Aspect Ratio

• Aspect ratio is the term used to describe the dimensions of an image by comparing the width to the height and expressing it in ratio form.
  
  
  

  
  
• Aspect ratio describes the relationship between the width and height of an image, width:height (width always comes first). 
  
   

 Landscape and Portrait :

• The image on the left is taller than it is wide, which might be referred to as "Portrait".
• The image on the right is wider than it is tall and so it might be called "Landscape ".
   
  

Types : 

1. Square Format- 1:1 

2. Four-Thirds Format- 4:3

3. 35 mm Format- 6:4 or 3:2

4. Widescreen Panoramic- 16:9

 

5. Panoramic- 12:6 or 18:6 or 2:1 or 3:1
